A New Container Freight Station for Shipping Aluminium

EGA shipped 600,000 tonnes of aluminium from Khalifa Port in 2019 using a new container freight station reduces trucking of EGA’s aluminium from KEZAD by over 290,000 kilometres a year, reducing cost, as well as environmental emissions of 2,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year.

The Only Port in the Region Accommodating Fully Laden Capesize Shipping Vessels

One of Khalifa Port’s key advantages is the ability to handle Capesize shipping vessels and is the only port in the region that can accommodate these vessels fully laden. This allows EGA to import bauxite for their new Al Taweelah alumina refinery without the need to transfer cargo to smaller vessels outside of the port, reducing shipping costs and environmental impact.

Hot Metal Road services

The Hot Metal Road in KEZAD eliminates the need for KEZAD-based customers to re-melt transported metal before use. EGA’s customers receive molten metal, resulting in reduced cost and environmental impact, and increased competitiveness for the growing UAE aluminium fabrication industry.
